I am just living through a bad experience with the Mackie SRM150. Although this speaker with built in amp and mixer would be perfect for your use, I do not trust the way they are built. I have two of them that failed shortly after their 1 year warranty expired. They developed problems with their switching transformer. When a local technician opened them up and identified the problem he saw that the circuit board is held together with glue that is pored over everything. Yes, it is more secure, but impossible to fix components without major work.
Unless Mackie is willing to replace the whole circuit board for a reasonable price, I have bought junk.

I was going to tell you to check out the TC helion VSM speakers. IMHO they blow the Mackie and Galaxy speakers out of the water. They are very easy to move, sound great and are metal so they can take some abuse. They are really loud and mount to a mic stand (could be a plus or minus...) We use them all the time and haven't had any issues....

However.. I just looked them up and they have been discontinued. I don't know why but if you can find one used I think you will like it.

Yamaha have a vast range of powered speakers from large to small, they have been around for ages and are robust.
