Has anyone tried the Audio Technica BPHS-1
I am tempted to buy the Audio Technica BPHS-1 headset. Has anyone got this or tried it? I do a lot of screen capture recordings and just need the freedom of a good headset. At the moment I am using a Rode NTG2 for the recordings, although it is on a boom arm I still have to maintain the same voice to mike distance all the time and it can be awkward when using a graphics tablet to demonstrate a point.

No one seen or tried this?
I believe the headphones are the ATHM 30 set, which are inexpensive, so unless the mike is spectacular, then I may just have to look for something else. |

AT makes decent mics, so I would assume it would sound good. Looks kind of bulky though but that's normal if you need the closed-back ear cups for isolation. Remote Audio makes a set using the popular 7506 headphones, but they are designed more for on-set communications. If you do not need the cans, you have many options

Re: Has anyone tried the Audio Technica BPHS-1
Thanks Rick, the headphones are important to me as it focuses the attention on any ambient sounds. At the moment I am using Sennheiser HD 25, which are excellent, but as mentioned earlier the mike is on a stand so I have to remain in the same spot all the time. Ideally I would like a combination of mike and headphones in one unit.
I do have a cheaper headset made by Sennheiser, but the sound quality is not that good from both mike and headphones, I guess these were made for the gaming market. |
Re: Has anyone tried the Audio Technica BPHS-1
Just received the Audio Technica BPHS-1 today. First recording was OK, once I applied some EQ the sound moved from OK to great. The Headphones are middle of the road in sound quality, but as a combined mike and headphone set they do the job well.
As a half expected bonus, the noise generated by the computer fan is almost non existent on the screen shot recordings. I will be keeping this set, purely for my screen shot tutorials. |
