removing music from track?

Hey ~

I have one track with singing and music mixed- and a second track with just the music.

I'd like to remove the music from the first track, leaving just the singing. Is there a way to use the music only track to "tell" a program what it is I want to remove???

thanks -

Try phase reversing the music track and mix this with the vocal / music track.
Phase reversal is actually making the wave form a NEGATIVE ..... it might work for you.

thanks for the suggestion. i might add that it's piano music I want to remove - the same frequencies as the voice.

If the music was added digitally in post, it can be removed by adding the same track, out of phase. It's just a matter of getting the timing perfect. However, if the piano bled into the vocal microphone after the sound bounced around the room, it's not easily removable.

i was trying to do all this to see if I could save some clipped vocals, but it's too distorted. that's life! :)
