Gerry...I understand, but there is a trade-off in weight when getting more robust mic stands. I believe I'll pick up an Atlas boom and a C-stand, which should be more robust.

Thanks,

J.

Re: K&M Mic stands

James, highly recommend my Rode boom. Of course being an Aussie I love to support the local produce, but I bought this a couple of years ago now, and although it hasn't had heaps of use it's incredibly sturdy and reliable: RDE Microphones - Boompole

I'm keen on finding a boom stand for when I'm recording solo interviews and/or extended interviews when the subject is sitting down. Might look at your mic stands, but I believe my local pro shop has something for me when I drop in next weekend.

Also keen on springing for a mount for the boom to suit my beloved NTG3 when I don't need the blimp. Indoor recording doesn't need it, and probably doesn't even need the foam cover, so best to be rid of them.

Howdy, Ryan! I also have a RODE NTG-3 and love it! I already have a CF Boom Pole I have used inconjuction with a Lumiere stand. The Lumiere was recommended to me by Garrett Low as a one-man interview tool. It has done everything I've asked it to do and more. It extends to around 10-ft or more, so it could be used to get above the sound of the crowd at a concert. It's sturdy, easy to set-up and comes with an extendable boom section. The only thing I changed was to add 3/8" adapters on the 1/4-20 spigots. My Kel-Tec CF Boom Pole fits and I have used it in place of the Luminiere aluminium Boom.

Best regards,

J.
