Need a little help

Hi,

I am going to purchase a GL2 from one of the site sponors and I need a little help with accessories. This setup will be used to video hunters. I have zero experience with video other than home video stuff.

Typically, the hunter will be within 5-8 ft from the camera. But, there will be a "recovery" interview with the hunter. Would a shotgun mic suffice? There are so many options to choose from. Our plan is to produce hunting DVDs to sell.

Tripods are another item that I am not sure of. Right now I am considering the Libec M20. Or, maybe the Libec LS22, but that one is almost twice the price.

The guy at Zotz has been very helpful, but, I just wanted some outside opinions.

you'll be happy with a short shotgun. You might want something shorter rather than longer. Add a neoprene grip to it so you can hand hold it. Be sure you've got a GOOD fuzzy for it. (I think you can make better than you can buy, IMO)
Used to do a lot of these in the days of Kirt Darner, and wished I'd have had a shotgun back then. I used an AKG 330BT, which is a hypercard. Worked well, but didn't have the reach I'd like. Anything out of 6" was missed.

Thanks for the reply. Do you have any suggestions for a short shotgun mic? How do you make a fuzzy.

I am not a hunter but have watched hunting shows. You need to consider putting wireless lavs on everyone (or at least two people), so you can hear them whisper during the hunt. Use the shotgun for ambient sounds.
