The All-in-one recorder question
I do this gig occasionally where I record musos just singing and playing a guitar or something and I've got a great FR2-LE and mics for the job. I either switch it between a stereo set up or a two track close mic depending on the situation. Sometimes I want to do both though and it'd be nice to have something just to get the room while I'm close micing with the FR2. But I don't want to buy another system and more mics right now.
So I was thinking of just getting one of the little portable jobs and letting it record somewhere with its onboard mics during a session. It could be a bad idea. I dunno. Assuming it's not, which one do people think is good? Not too much money is better. I've been looking at the usual suspects: Zoom H1, H2N, H4. Tascam etc etc. I'm kinda leaning toward the H2N just for its fun sounding array of mics. Others? Any good/bad experiences to share? cheers |
Re: The All-in-one recorder question
Murray,
I just used my Zoom H1 this weekend. I conducted an interview where there was a band playing. I hooked up the zoom to a lav and placed manual setting. When I went home my top mic on my camera was over modulated, but the zoom h1 picked up great sound from the people I interviewed, and because it was on manual I did not pick up the band hardly at all. Zoom is bringing out a H6 very soon. If you can wait I am sure the other H4n will be a little cheaper. |
