wiring ew100 sennheiser cable (cl100)

i have wired some mini trs to xlr male cable,(cl100) to plug receivers into mixer, all the sennheisers cables was broken i had awfull noises when just touched the cable next the xlr,
i have wired them in the canonical way, (2 to tip, 3 to ring and 1 to sleeve) I didn't keep to the sennheiser manual, and everything is working fine and sounds ok,
have any of you done same thing or you use the other way to wire the g1 cl100 cables?

Assuming you have the G2/3 EK100 portable receiver, which is unbalanced via a 3.5mm TRS mini plug:

mini plug 'Sleeve' (cable shield/ground) to XLR Pin-1 and Pin-3
mini plug 'Tip' to XLR Pin-2 (hot)
mini plug 'Ring' terminal is floated. (not connected)

The included cables that come with the systems are of the cheap molded-on connector variety and most folks replace them with higher quality components pronto.
If you can't make y'own cables, any one of the usual suspect audio shops can make them if not already made up.

FWIW, I use Canare L-2E5 mini mic cable , Neutrik XLR-M and a TecNec 3.5mm TRS locking mini-plug. About $10.00 (USD) in parts from Markertek and 15-20 minutes assembly time for an experienced DIYer.

I have wired tip to xlr 2, ring to xlr 3, and sleeve to xlr 1, and work fine

This is correct.

I would suggest that a proper screw-lock 3.5mm TRS jack plug is used as this is a good fit and doesn't move and cause crackles.

It may "work" but it's not working correctly as pin 3 is not connected to anything.

You are connecting an unbalanced signal to a balanced circuit and leaving one half open-ended.

This can add noise - you should wire as above.

'This can add noise - you should wire as above'
- Yes indeed... If XLR Pin 1 & 3 are not tied together for an unbalanced output into balanced input, normally 3dB or so will be lost.

If it's a G3, signal goes to tip and ring and sleeve have to be shorted.

The line input is on the ring and the unused input needs to be shorted to ground to work correctly.

Yes, the COS-11D wiring method for both the G2/3 bodypack transmitters are the same. But always check with the manufacturer as it varies. Some require resistors, ect., like the Countryman B3/6.
From Sanken:
Transmitter Manufacture: Sennheiser
Model: SK 100 (G2/G3); SK 300 (G2/G3; SK 500 (G2/G3)
Connector for transmitter: locking 3.5mm mini plug ( stereo )
Wiring-style: 2 wire
Black wire to be connected: HOT
White wire to be connected: GND
Shield to be connected: GND

And short ring and sleeve to effect the switch in the transmitter and to minimise noise.
