- Sony makes the (long handled) F112. Don is likely thinking of the ElectroVoice 635A (aka, Buchanan hammer) which uses the same element as the RE50. I think there's a N/D version as well. The 635 was more designed to be used on a stand, so it exhibits slightly more handling noise and less wind protection than the RE50. Certainly worthy of consideration though. The going pre-owned price is around $50-75, depending on the condition. Both mics are practically indestructible. |

Your mic may also be broken. Hold the mic in one hand and move the cable/connection around with the other. If just that movement introduces noise it is a trow-a-way situation. Upgrading is no longer optional. Cheap connectors often go bad. Steve |
