Re: Wireless system with two lav mics

I'm still having good success using my Wi AudioLink sets to transmit and receive audio over distances of about 50 feet reliably, either as the main signal to record with or as a wireless monitor for the remote extra recorder.

My main uses are:

To connect with a short cable and re-transmit a signal from an installed house-sound wireless receiver that is a different brand than what I normally use for wireless transmission. (The different brand and frequency from my normal full-power set preventing me from picking up the original transmitting frequency directly. Plus I don't interupt the house sound, just tap off the unbalanced extra connector of the installed wireless receiver.)

Or as a wireless monitor to listen to the headphone out of a remote recorder, or a camera if I need to move further away while using a wireless boompole.

I also have a pro Wi set, that can transmit a mic signal directly and I have used it some but I'm still not fully satisfied with that setup. Usually I put a preamp between the mic and the Wi so it can have a line-level input signal.

In either case, the Wi receiver can drive small headphones clearly or be used to receive stereo audio to a camera or remote second camera with a very clear signal as long as the distance isn't exceeded.

So in this example, it could be used to monitor a pocket recorder, at a far lower cost than two good-quality wireless sets.
