The Sony UWP-D systems is a very robust system (love them, I have 6x setups)

I suggest a little more time going through the manual

You're right dynamics don't need power. I haven't used mine in so long I forgot.

The plugin transmitter was from an older kit I retired long ago.

If you are looking for an upgrade, take a look at the Lectrosonics stuff. It's a big step up.

It's the hand mic that is giving me headache. I tried the lav in the same environment and same frequency and it was fine.

The sound also drops out completely sometimes.

Do you have any experience with Sonys UWP systems?

Thanks.

Sony UWP-D11 are "better" than the Sennheiser G3, yet cost around the same price.

I own 5x Sony UWP-D11 myself! (plus 5x Lectrosonics too, & 2x RodeLinks)

But would I recommend someone swaps over from G3 to UWP-D11? Nah, probably not really. As the gains is not worth the hassle? As UWP-D11 is better than a G3, but UWP-D11 vs G3 are still together in broadly the same category ("no budget wireless"). You need to step up to the likes of Lectrosonics/Zaxcom/Audio Ltd/Wisycom/etc, but they're far more expensive!

Are you using a handheld mic with the plug in transmitter ? If so is the handheld mic metal bodied ? The metal body acts as the aerial for the plug in transmitter.

Paul.
