Sync two Zoom H6's
I may be recording Handel's Messiah next month and I need more inputs than my Zoom H6 has. Can I sync two H6's? Or will they stay close enough to be able to re-sync in post.
On previous symphony recordings I've used the ORTF method and been very happy with the results. Two Rode NT1's. This recording will be in a cathedral so I need a little more control over the chorus and soloist's. Also, any comments on Zoom F8? j |
Re: Sync two Zoom H6's
Zoom F8 and the F4 are by far the best bang for buck recorders there are in the market right now!
Which Sound Recorder to buy? A guide to various indie priced sound recorders in 2017 – David Peterson I own and use every week a Zoom F4 myself. If you just want to add extra channels on the dirt cheap, then buy yourself a Tascam DR70D. But if you want it all nice and self contained, and need 6 channels or less than get a Zoom F4. If you will be needing 7 or 8, then get a Zoom F8. If you'll be needing 9 or 10 (hope you're getting paid well for that!) then get a Sound Devices 10T. Re: Sync two Zoom H6's
Hi David, thanks for the reply.
After I gave them a quote for the multi-mic setup, we went back to the ORTF method. It will be OK for a legacy recording. I was really hoping for the bigger setup. I think the F8 with the control panel would be most excellent! If the two H6 method worked it would be less expensive. I imagine even if there is drift over time it could be corrected in post. j |
Re: Sync two Zoom H6's
Maybe you know...but you can put two more xlr jacks on the H6... giving 6 in all...

Thanks Renton, I'd forgotten about that option. j

Keep in mind there is no phantom power with the XLR adapter inputs.
