A Quick Question Re. Sennheiser EW100 G2 and EK100 G2

Hi Guys - season's compliments!

This maybe a daft question, but can anyone tell me if the Sennheiser EW100 G2 and EK100 G2 are one and the same (or are they different units, but interchangeable?)

I need a new balanced 1/8" Male Mini Jack to XLR-Male Connector Cable for my EW100 G2 radio receiver and all I can find are parts for the EK model. I think this cable should be interchangeable, even if these are two separate units, but I thought I'd do a bit of due diligence first in case I blow a circuit...

Regards,
Graham

Re: A Quick Question Re. Sennheiser EW100 G2 and EK100 G2

"EW" is the system designation type, which includes the mic, transmitter and receiver
"EK" is the portable receiver. I believe all the G 100 series (2,3 & 4) use the same alphanumeric designation.

AFAIK, these models have the EM-100 AC powered base station receiver:
EW 112 ENG Theater, presentation w. SK Bodypack transmitter (omni-directional ME 2)
EW 122 Theater, presentation SK Bodypack transmitter(high feedback rejection ME 4)
EW 152 Sports (aerobic), vocals SK Bodypack transmitter (ME 3 headset)
EW 172 music instrument SK Bodypack transmitter
EW 135 Speech, vocals (SKM hand-held w/ MD 835 mic element)
EW 145 Vocals (high feedback rejection) (SKM H/H mic body pack transmitter w/ME 865 element)
EW 165 Vocals, presentation (high feedback rejection) (SKM H/H mic body/ transmitter w/ ME 835 element)
----------------------------------------------
These models have the EK-100 battery powered portable receiver:
EW 112-p ENG Combo system, SK Bodypack & SKP plug-on transmitters (omni-directional ME 2 lav)
EW 112-p ENG Presentation system, camera-mounted applications SK Bodypack ( ME2 omni lav)
EW 122-p Noisy environments, camera-mounted applications SK Bodypack w/ (ME4 cardioid lav)
EW 135-p Speech, vocals, camera-mounted (SKM Hand held transmitter w/ ME 865 element)

Transmitters and receivers:
EM 100 base station receiver
EK 100 portable receiver
SK 100 bodypack transmitter
SKP 100 XLR plug-on transmitter (for dynamic and self-powered mics)
SKM 100 hand-held mic transmitter

The CL-100 1/8" Male locking mini jack to XLR-male connector cable is what you need for your EK 100 portable receiver. Which should be readily available at most pro-audio retailers world wide. Unfortunately that cable is way over priced. Building them yo'self even with premium parts would cost significantly less. A good quality Calrad 3.5mm locking plug can be had for around $4 (usd) and a Neutrik XLR-m is less that $3, and practically everyone in the biz has at least a few feet of unterminated shielded cable lying around. Small electronics cable soldering skills are needed though.
