The subject gear provides a 2-channel XLR Audio interface with phantom power, channel metering, headphone amp, and limiting for use with DSLRs. It also works with camcorders that allow for external mic input. At $100 the cost is reasonable and it strikes me as superior to many common alternative adapters. A few more details are in:
