Fostex FR-2

Im looking into moving from a DAT recorder to a Solid State recorder. ive been looking around and i think the Fostex FR-2 fits what i need. i have a timecode slate and id like to be able to utilize that and im just wondering if any has any experience with this particular unit, if so would you mind sharing it with me? or if anyone has any suggestions for another unit with similar specs that would be awesome too. thanks guys.

Fr2

I have an FR2 and it has performed almost faultlessly. Slight software glitch on a nearly full card, but no data corruption. I don't have the TC option fitted, but I am sure it would work well. It is an easy machine to operate, perhaps it feels a bit lightweight for such a large case and in fact most of the inside is air. The case size may be dictated by the need for XLR connectors. I like it, I have used it on a couple of shoots where we were using a clap board and the opportunity to name all the files for future reference is great. Syncing was a breeze with FCP. The USB connection is a bit slow, so I use an external card reader.
Hope this helps
