Interview mic and video light fan noise

I am new to recording audio with my video and I have a problem. I have a Rode Videomic but my problem is that I have a nice Interfit 1000W light but it has a fairly loud fan. I would love to use the light but it seems impossible with my current setup. Would a lav mic be the best bet to get close enough to eliminate the noise feedback I get from the fan or do I need to use another light?

Thanks,

Bryan

I'd sure be looking at other lights...especially if it's just a 1K.

Yup, find another 1k light. Plenty on ebay.

Thanks for the quick feedback. I didn't even think of the fan noise when I bought the light. Live and learn I guess.

Good advice above.

Also consider that camera mounting is rather a specialized position for mics and lights. Granted it makes a compact rig for the one-person crew... but... booming the subject is usually best, lav next, with camera mike as a backup or recording ambient sound for interviews and cutaways.

I guess with a 1k you're not really mounting the light on the camera, right?
