I get what you say about inter-cutting, so now I need a hypercadioid of comparable quality --not significantly 'better' or 'worse'.

Exactly which mic in the “Blue Line" series was drawing your attention, just out of curiosity(?).

GET THE 4073A AND 4053A,

What do you think of the AKG SE300B / CK93 hypercardioid capsule combo in comparison to the AT4053a?

Ty Ford March 28th, 2006 05:08 AM

I have never compared them

quick update: I decided to pay up and go for the AT4073, a nice ktek boom pole, etc.

Thank you all for your help. :)

I have been helped immensely here, and I have yet another question...

When recording audio with the 4073a, do I have to record directly to 16bit tape? Is there an external solution, at perhaps a higher bit rate (if that is relevant), whereby I can waltz about recording various things without having to lug my camera around?

Would this be attached to a field mixer, or would I need to buy a separate one of those as well?

How do the pro’s do it?

There are a variety of 24-bit field recorders. To go to the top of the list, start with Sound Devices and Zaxcom.

Ty Ford
