Syncing DAT to D-Beta

Hi

I have a question on how the whole post production stage starts. Let's say you're working on a film and it has went through telecine and the footages are dumped to D-Beta. Now, the editor wants to go offline and edit in let's say FCP. How does the workflow starts in terms of syncing audio from DAT to the D-Beta master?

Timecode. Usually, you'll have a T/C capable DAT and will be synced at the shoot.
If you don't have T/C, it's a manual process of lining up audio, which can be a breeze if you don't have a lot of lengthy clips, or can be a major pain if you do have lots of clips.
I'll be in Singapore in July, this is part of the Power Production Techniques class that I teach.

Oh, you'll be visiting Singapore to hold a class or for your holidays?

Yea TC plays a part but the editor has to manually sync the clapper with the sound right? So what is the fastest workflow to get the visuals from D-Beta down to DV tape and sync in the audio as well?

You set the proper TC on the DV tape based on the D-Beta. And then do you dump the visuals first and sync the audio later or you do both at the same time?
