Mic for Sony Handycam DCR-HCI9e
 

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could tell me what mics are available for the Sony Handycam DCR-HCI9e or if you could tell me if there is any available at all. I tried checking the internet but couldn't find anything, and the people at my loacal sony centre wern't much use.

Please help, I really need to get this sorted so I can go ahead with a project. I'm will ing to spend up to 200 euros.

Using a Beachtek or similar, any kind of mic can plug into the HC1. If you're planning on using the Intelligent Shoe on the camera, forget it. That only allows for a junk-level 5.1 surround mic or a really poor grade "shotgun" to be mounted on the camera. you're just as well off using the built in stereo mic.

The HC1 has a high impedance, 3.5 mm input on the lower front right. This can be used to plug in a low Z to high Z adaptor, allowing for virtually any microphone to be used.

Can you offer specific shooting scenarios so we might better recommend a few mics?

Thanks for all the help your offering, but this DCR-HC19E cam I have does not have a 3.5 jackin on it anywhere. All it seems to have is a shoe, usb, dv out, a/v out, and a 2.5 LANC, all of these are located on the upper right side of the camera. I don't even know what the LANC does. I hope for my sake that there is a proper jack-in somewhere, but I'm getting really worried.

Do you know of any mics that will fit the ports I mentioned above?

I'll be filming mostly inside small rooms in a house. There will be a couple of additional scenes on a pier, a cliff walk and a road.
