beachtek DXA-25 XLR adapter

using a Canon Elura 100 camera with a DXA-25 where does the beachtek get its power. Is the DXA-25 powered through the minijack connector via the camera battery or do you have to plug the DXA-25 into the wall. In other words can you use the Canon Elura with a DXA-25 XLR adapter and run my XLR mics on top of a mountain nowhere near electricity, just camera battery power. thanks

Well, I'm not familiar with a DXA-25, but if it's like their other models there are two possibilities:

1) Most don't require power at all. There is a passive transformer inside for impedance matching.

2) Some recent models provide phantom power. They run on a 9v battery installed internally. I don't have one but Beachtek claims 3 hours run time with phantom.

If your Beachtek doesn't have an on/off switch it doesn't need power.

Did you mean the DXA-2S?

I don't think they make a model 25, but if you meant the 2S then it is passive as already mentioned. It doesn't need power and it blocks the power that comes from some mini mic jacks.
