PSC DV ProMix 6 Mixer

Hi there!

Anyone got hands on experience with the DV ProMix 6 Mixer from Professional Sound Corporation? From what I've read the issues are:

- No adjustable Gain.
- Fixed limiter.

Any opinions bout this mixer are much appreciated!

Not popular @ this forum I presume..? ;-)

So... I can make up two conclusions;

-Nobody on this forum has bought or considered the Promix 6.
-A lot of people considered buying the ProMix 6, but bought an other mixer.

In case of conclusion 2, if so, why? ;-)

almost every mixers of that kind have fixed first stage gain structure ( wendt , sqn, cooper and many others ) , these have preamp attenuation circuit .
the sd and psc have variable gain preamp
the ad have variable preamp gain with pot attenuating after
not critical at all
the limiters are not fixed

nice mixer if you need 6 inputs with small money .
popularity have nothing with quality.
usially people on this board run consumer cameras what make mixer as sd 302 be the most versative device to work with its strange gain structures , if you run "broadcast" quality camera , the psc not a bad choice
sounds ok , have allot of featurs for Eng work

Thanks for your opinion Oleg! I think I'm gonna get one then.

proMix 6

while I have not used one, it certainly has a lot of attractive features for the money....the I/O array competes with the SD442, and would make this a nice front end for a firewire or USB interface for multi-track recording, as well as just to mix down to stereo...you could team this up with a FirePod, or a MOTU traveller, using just the preamps on the Promix and then sending audio via the direct outs into the line-ins on the interface and have a nice remote multitrack package....PSC does have a good rep....

That's exactly what I'm going to use this for, occasionally then. That's one of the reasons I do need 6 channels minimum.
