Rode NT3 with boom stand indoors

Can I get away with using a Rode NT3 mic as an overhead mic on a boom to mic an interview? or should i try to have on the ground on a mic stand in front of the interviewee?

It's certainly usable as an overhead mic from a technical standpoint but very heavy for a typical hand-held boom. A tall mic stand with a lateral arm is better than trying to hand-hold it on the end of a 12 foot boom arm held over one's head for the duration of an interview. Our local Long & McQuade had a studio stand on sale about 6 months ago that was about a 10 foot tall stand on a caster base with another 12 foot or so long counter-weighted arm across the top for less than $100 that would be ideal for that sort of application. Wish I'd snapped it up (but I didn't have any place to keep the thing).

I mis-spoke, I meant an overhead mic stand, not a boom...
