Does anyone know what this Redrock Micro set up is?

Redrock Micro has an image posted on their home page showing a canon XL series viewfinder attached to their lens adapter and a camera I don't quite recognize.

1. How did they get the canon viewfinder attached there?
2. What is it attached to?
3. What kind of camera is connected to it?

It's very curious, and I emailed Redrock Micro, but they don't seem to be responding. Anyone???

ps you might have to hit the refresh button a couple of times if the image doesn't show up immediately.

That's the Canon HV20, flipped upside down, with their planned set up for focus unit for the camera. My understanding is it hasn't been released yet...

Sweet! Upside down? Wow, why didn't they think of this sooner. Thanks for the info.

I started flipping the camera as shown in post #1 in this thread, usign Letus35a. When I saw the Redrock I did some more moding. Check post #33 where I used the ideas from Micro rig to add to mine by using cheap materials...

That is brilliant!

Can the XL series finder be connected to composite video output? (As per photo on redrock`s site). Damn fine setup they got there, not sure about the low light image quality and rolling shutter tough.
How can one use a XL viewfinder on the HV20?

Cheers,
T

Chris Hurd pointed out in another thread that the viewfinder is only SD, and will offer challenges for focusing. I have the same problem with the DVD player I use for a monitor, though recently I discovered if I turn down color, focusing is easier in B & W. I don't know what connectors look like, but I'msure you would have to go out the AVport on the HV20, switching the headphone/AV switch to AV. That creates sound monitoring issues of its own. In my set up, I have to go AVout to the monitor, and monitor sound off the DVD player to... That is not the best way.... but if you have an separate sound guy, it works very well...
