Cinevate Flip Module - Final Revision Has Arrived!
 

We're very pleased to announce the arrival of the third revision Cinevate Flip Module. Our retail (CNC alumimun) enclosure is not finished, however the engineering test mules are here, complete with an amazing optics package. The system can accomodate image inversion on targets sized well over SLR frame sizes, has perfect z axis alignment, and on initial tests, is exceeding expectations regarding light loss. We'll be ready to ship the first units in approximately 4 weeks, at a projected price point under $400. They will work with our adapter of course, and any others out there that can take a 72mm thread.

Note that the CNC machined retail enclosure is approximately 50% less volume, and 60% less weight than the engineering "mules" pictured in our forum.

You'll also see our inversion/reversion optics package in few very interesting products over the next few months :-)

That's pretty much what the retail unit looks like. It's designed to minimize weight, and in doing so, is a very unique design.

Here are the pics of the HV20 and XH-A1 mounted up with the Brevis35 REV2-MC and the production retail version of our flip module. The unit can be used with or without the flip :-) Footage to follow this weekend. The Brevis35 packaged for use with the flip module will be under $1300...standard pricing. The REV-MC adapter module supports six SLR mounts, and PL +OCT19 cinema lenses. Micro-collimating lens mount system and interchangeable imaging elments are still standard. If you're looking to purchase and use the adapter in both modes, flipped or non-flipped, add $200. Our quick release system will be finished shortly and available as an option. Note that the pics are shown with our standard 15mm carbon rails systems...no modifications.

The flip module will be usable on any third party adapter that can support 72mm threads.

Volume production is in progress, and 10 units will be making their way into selected customers hands in 2 weeks or so. The unit works perfectly with all Brevis35 adapters, past, present or future.

Bravo Dennis. Everything looks terrific. I will be purchasing the MatteBox very soon and then a followfocus unit when they arrive. The flip looks like a piece of artwork. Very goodlooking stuff.

Thanks Steve. It's been a full year in R&D, but we're hoping it adds convenience for the shooters out there who want a "righted" work flow...with thoroughly professional optics.

Does it allow 36x24mm frame size too? Without vignetting on the wide angles?
I see from the pics that the optical path is quite a bit offset but how much exactly? I mean that if it is possible to use flipped Brevis with any of the Cavision rails supports for example and still maintain the standard rod centre to optical path distance?
Damn now there`s a competition between the flippers, gotta get one before the new year, might that be possible?

Yes, full frame 24x36. When shooting 16:9 format, you can still expect to exceed the 35mm SLR field of view beyond the 36mm frame width. Our CINEFUSE imaging elements have been optimized to ensure that even an 18-24mm f3.5 zoom has full frame performance.

The flip unit itself can be rotated 180 degrees so the camera can be mounted above or below the optical axis. XY alignment is maintained right up the center.

The first 10 units are heading out in about 2 weeks, with full production volumes about 3 after that :-)
