letus HD100

Hi there,

can anyone post a pic of the Letus HD100 unit on a 100 series JVC?

Also: is it correct that Letus are working on an 'extreme' version of this unit?

thanks in advance
Sam

Theres a picture of the HD100 on a JVC on the letus website, but is there something particular you need to see? If so I can take a shot of my setup and post it if you like

No prob, thanks... I do like it. The light loss wasn't too big of a deal for me, I like challenges, it's gotten me pretty good at lighting! For what it is it's great. There is a bit of grain, I'm shooting a feature now with it, when i'm done i'm thinking of replacing the GG. I'm very particular but again at this level of production it is a great tool. I would say get the fastest lenses you can find and a LOCKING MOUNT which ever way you go (either Nikon or Canon). I have a few posts with footage on here if you haven't seen them or others.

Jamon,

is the image right side up already with this adapter?
I noticed you have a DTE drive on the hd100 hotshoe, is this the citidisk? if so do you recommend its performance/price? i was planning to get this instead of the firestore.
Your feedback on this is really appreciated.

That's a pretty setup. If I saw that in the park it'd definitely get my attention! :)

I'm looking at building a similar one, with a Z1 and 503 tripod... doing my best to spend less money per foot of length than I did on the camera to begin with, wish me luck :D

Ted,

Yes the image is right side up with this adapter, that was the main reason why I chose to purchase the Letus. Honestly don't waste your time with the Citidisk (that's what WAS on the hot shoe). I sure i was just like you in thought process, "It's alot cheaper, the little lights give you enough feed back on status". The customer support is the best thing about that device oh and the fact that if it wasn't recording it would let you know!!! I have had about 3 of them and had problems with them all and ended up getting my money back. With Citidisk what u save in money u gain in headache and post production capturing (which defeats the purpose).

Save the headache and get the DRHD100 if you can shell out for the JVC one
(if you can afford it), I love it. I really hated to buy it when i first did. The thought of spending that much money and the damn thing not record or give any problems... I WOULD HAVE BEEN PISSED!!! Plus the thought of what u could buy with $1300!! But the thing has been so reliable for me that i have shot about 80% of this feature strait to it, no tape (though i wouldn't recommend it) I'm just so used to it working! The first few times i forgot to load the tape and now I just...

Carl thanks...

You know how it is. Piecing all this stuff together, when you finally get all of the pieces and put the puzzle together it is pretty gratifying! I will say it does look pretty god compared to a lot of options i've seen where it's really long and awkward looking... That's why I like the Letus HD, it attaches strait to the camera body, (it's actually shorter than the stock lens) put on your matte and filters and your ready to go!

That z1 and Letus extreme would be a good combo, not too awkward I wouldn't think... God Bless
