I'm getting a Letus -- what do I do?!

So, I have no idea what lenses to get. I confess, I'm a video guy who wants a film look. Thus, I have not had much experience with photography lenses. I'm trying to find a lens that is manual and fast.

My question is, do lenses that have AutoFocus have the option to switch to Manual? Because EVERYTHING OUT THERE seems to be AF.

Any tips? Does a lens such as the EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/co...ModelDetailAct have the option of turning OFF the autofocus? I'm just looking to get a little educated without spending a bunch of money first.

Older Canon FD or Nikon lenses from the 70's or 80's are completely manual and are extremely cheap compared to the newer autofocus lenses. Most (if not all) adapters are built to be used with these older lenses. You can find them on ebay or at www.keh.com (Camera store --> 35mm --> Canon Manual Focus --> lenses) I would not recommend investing in autofocus lenses to be used solely with an adapter; most requests to have autofocus compatibility comes from adapter users who already have a hefty investment in autofocus lenses for their still cameras.

Just an update:

I ended finding more selections locally with Canon FD lenses, so I decided to go that route. Thus far I have a 28mm f2.8, a 50mm f1.8, and a 135mm f2.8. Still lookin' for a Canon FD 85mm...

Personally am a massive Nikon fan. They are so readily available and cheap.
