The SNC-M300 is a high resolution color network camera that comes equipped with a 3 mega pixel CMOS chip that is capable of progressive QXGA (Quad eExtended Graphics Array) scanning. The camera has a maximum resolution of 2048 x 1536 and comes equipped with a SD card slot for on-alarm event recording retrievable over the network.

Dual Coding & Dual Streaming
With dual-encoding capability, the GV-SNC-M300 can generate and transfer both MJPEG and MPEG4 images simultaneously (PAL 25fps). This dual encoding and streaming capability is useful for transferring MPEG4 images over limited network bandwidth, while also storing high resolution MJPEG Images to the Nertwork Recording Software or NVR device.

The SNC-M300 uses an onboard embedded Linux OS with standard network protocols such as TCP, UDP and FTP among others. The SNC-M300 streams its video output in TCP and UDP (Unicast and Multicast) with MPEG4, MJPEG and G.711 compression. The camera connects to the network by way of a 10/100 Base-T Ethernet connection. The video quality from the camera is available at Very High, High, Normal, Low, and Very Low settings. It supports SAMSUNG DDNS and public DDNS servers. Images are viewable by way of a web browser (IE 6.0 or higher), or with Samsung's Net-i software.

The SNC-M300 has built-in motion detection that can be set at high, medium and low sensitivity. On an alarm event the camera can be set to send an image by FTP, e-mail and record.

The SNC-M300 defends your network integrity by coming equipped with three access levels, administrator, operator and user. The camera supports two way audio and has various time settings, such as NTP Time Sync, Time Zone, and Daylight Savings time setup.

SD Memory Card
User can select important images to be recorded to the SD memory card such as: Alarm Events, Motion Detection or Time Scheduled Events. Using the WebViewer or asd;lkjkkkksoftware, you can remotely access the images from the SD card installed in the SNC-M300. It is compatible with SD and SDHC standard and can support up to 16GB capacity of SDHC memory.

You'd probably be interested in the Elphel project. We are filming 1920 x 1080 pixels (from a 5mpixel chip) to an onboard hard disk right now.
It's an ever continuing project because the founder of Elphel, Andrey Filippov, is devoted to 'open source' and 'open' projects.

It looks like an interesting device, here are a few thoughts:

What is Video Quality: Very High?

Frame Rate: 25, 19, 13, 12, 10, 6, 3,
Why not 24?

Resolution: 3 Mega 2048 x 1536
Ok so it's a 4:3 Sensor, but can it also do 16:9 windowing?

There is very little info about how the internal camera parameters like exposure time, white balance, etc are handled.


As Oscar mentioned, this camera is not as powerful as an Elphel at around the same price level.
