Anyone else have some leads to cylinder (or cylindrical) lenses besides the links posted so far?

No link but as i sais in another thread, we may have the possibility to have them properly made by an optic company for a very reasonable price (and more than that if theres a lot of people interested in) , and they can also do the grinding.

We just have to know EXACTLY, EVERYTHING that we need.

Although, I am confused as to where the cylinder lens would go. I would have though that it would go infront of the 35mm lens, so as to collect more image. I'm not sure how this would upset the depth of field, and I'm still un clear as to why this it isn't the best option.

Its the best idea to have the cylinder lens in front of the 35mm lens if your looking to make your lens have a even wider FOV and not just anamorphically squeezed. The problems is making it easily mountable to any given lens your hoping to use and also not having zoom thru problems. So for these reasons its probably better to use it after the GG.

Is there any more research being done in this idea? Any non-custom sources for the lens?

Century Optics makes a 58mm thread mount widescreen adapter that could be attached to the 35mm lens with a step-up ring. Its one of the cheaper, non-zoomable ones. Granted they're still pretty pricey, but at least its an option and/or influence for a homemade design.
