Rods Support Compatibility

Hi,

I am considering buying a DOF adapter, a Rods Support, F.Focus and a Matte Box.

One question I have no experience with is if the Rods Supports that are offered by several companies are compatible? So for instance does a Matte Box of BrandA fit to a Rods Support of BrandB?

Thank you.
Peppo

rods

the rod supports are usually 15mm for video and 19mm for larger film cameras. all the gear you will be buying should be made to that 15mm spec... so yes rod a will work with gear b etc...

Normally 15mm rods are at 90mm spacing on center, however there are issues out there with tolerance on given rods. Another issue is height adjustment which is something often ignored by manufacturers in terms of keeping the optical center at 85mm. We've spent nearly four years getting all these issues taken care of by making sure all of our components (adapter, rails, mattebox and follow focus) can work with nearly every conceivable hardware configuration out there.

Cheers,

Dennis ... I thought 15mm rods are 60mm apart (center to center) ?
