Stills using mini35 & XL1s
Hello,
I have more images from the current project I'm working on titled "Pilgarlic". These frames were taken right from captured footage without any color correction, enhancements, adjustments, etc.. Canon XL1se (the 'e' means PAL version) mini35 Nikkor Lenses with most shots at f2.8 or f3.5. Lowel DP Light, 500watts Dolly Let me know what you think or if you have questions I'd be pleased to answer. www.starcentral.ca/pilgarlic/frame1.jpg www.starcentral.ca/pilgarlic/frame2.jpg www.starcentral.ca/pilgarlic/frame3.jpg www.starcentral.ca/pilgarlic/frame4.jpg www.starcentral.ca/pilgarlic/frame5.jpg |
They look great, Dennis! Thanks for sharing them with us.

Thanks for your feedback!
There are a couple more from another scene as well: www.starcentral.ca/pilgarlic/frame04.jpg www.starcentral.ca/pilgarlic/frame20.jpg I haven't really tried mixing stock lens footage with mini35 footage but believe it can be done by using a lot of ND filters on the Canon stock lens. The only reason I'm saying this is because really your composition of shot is what will allow you to create depth of field, not just the lens. In the shot of the character holding the fortune cookie note we pull focus from the note to his face so shallow DOF is needed. With the wide shots though (35mm) you're really not going to benefit from the whole DOF when your character is 8 to 9 feet away so now I wonder about just using the stock lens in those cases. What can I say... I will have to try it next time and post some results here. |
This is a still from the film with post production effects and what the film will look like:

I finished shooting most of the final scene this weekend and have this image to share from it. It is my favourite for it's "look" but note I had added cine bars which will not appear in the final cut.
www.starcentral.ca/pilgarlic/frame3-1a.jpg My work as cinematographer on this film "Pilgarlic" wrapped up this weekend so I'm currently available for more project if anyone is looking. Thanks & enjoy! Dennis Hingsberg www.starcentral.ca |
That last frame you uploaded is gorgeous!
