Balancing a rotating GG
I had a local company cut me a circle of glass to match a template I sent them indicating size, thickness (3mm) and where I wanted holes drilled. Once I got it I decided to check it on my motor setup before grinding it and found it's a far cry from being perfectly round. In fact, it vibrates quite a bit at top speed and now that I've got it properly mounted I can clearly see where the problem areas are.
My question: it is possible to grind the edges down gently using a belt sander or something like that, or is the only safe way to have the company re-work it? The problem there is that they're really more of a commercial glass outfit and I'm sure what I've got is well within their normal tolerances. If it's at all possible I'd like to keep my super-picky side to myself. Any advice would be appreciated. -j |
Apparently a friend of mine has the proper equipment for just this sort of thing - I withdraw the question.
