16:9 with 35mm adapter lens
i am interested in make my own 35mm adapter but have a question. Are you able to somehow shoot true 16:9 with an anamorphic lens with the 35mm adapter?
Basically I wanna use the 35mm adapter and get a true 16:9 using full resolution (not the camera 16:9 effect). Is there a way? Currently I am using a century optics 16:9 anamorphic lens, using my 4:3 mode in my camera, squashing the stretched image down in post (full resolution 16:9) I am not currently using a 35mm adapter. Thanks, Chad |
No, there is no easy way. Can it be done? Sure, but how much do you want to spend? It would require building custom glass.

what would happen if you used a 35mm 16:9 anamorphic lens?
Camera 16:9 lens? |
No that wouldn't work actually :). The CCD size is a different aspect ratio from film so you would end up with a different ratio in the end once you unsqueeze the image.
That said, are there 16:9 film lenses? I don't think I've ever seen one! |
so how can you go about doing 16:9 with the adapter? just crop it during post?
