Another Letus35 clip
|
What camera was this shot on?
|
Just got it this morning. I asked the same question but don't have the answer yet. Thanks.
Quyen |
Shot with DVX100a.
No filters or color correction in post. Only slowed slightly. Thanks Pete. Quyen |
What version of the adapter was he using?
|
That was some seriously impressive footage! No CC you say - i think there was. I would love to see how the letus does with HDV. almost on par with the guerilla35.

Hard to believe there's no CC in there. But if the shooter says so, we have to believe it I guess.
Some HDV footage would sure be nice to see. Specially with the HD100. So far nobody has posted any footage of the HD100 with a 35mm adapter. |

Footage looks great.. but either it was CCed or there's creative whitebalance or scene file work (on the DVX) at work here ;)
Quyen.. sorry it's a bit off topic in this thread... but how is the flange focal distance adjusted with your adapter?! I'm asking cause I've run into this "problem" with the Micro35... just can't seem to get it right... :-( Thanks! Cheers, -Sören |
Mine is set to the right distance 42mm for Canon FD, 46.5mm for Nikon. I don't know much of the micro35 to advice you on this. You should ask people on their website or at least take some pictures to describe your problems and post here so we can suggest you of what to do. Thanks.

As soon as I get replacement ground glass, I'm going to shoot some footage with my HD10u. That'll be up soon. Quyen, any idea when the GG will get to me? Thanks.
|
Sorry Ben, I am so busy and cannot send your GGs out, will do it tonight, thanks.
Quyen |
Ben,
It's funny. I just ordered the Letus35A so i could do some testing with my HD10u. Quyen was nice enough to give me the special tester's price because no one had shot anything with that combination...yet. I'm glad I ordered it a couple days ago otherwise I might have had to pay full pop for the adapter. :) So I will have some footage also. E. |
Of course I posted about this on the Micro35 forum.. so I'm not asking for support or anything here - I just was curious.
So is it really as simple as that? Just having a fixed distance? I have two Nikon lenses and when I adjusted flange focal distance one has sharp focus at infinity but the other one hasn't..... |

I dunno...what's the difference with the Letus35a? I'm getting fantastic HD results with the regular Letus35. I'll have it up tomorrow.
|
Thanks Jonathan... could be possible.. I tested them some time ago on a digital Nikon still cam... and there was nothing wrong back then. But to be sure I'll repeat this test again.
Getting a lens collimated is quite expensive, right? *sigh* Nevertheless adjusting the distance on the eeeehrm "other existing cheap adapter" is a major PITA! :-/ |
Guess who's on your tail....Soeren
You have a Letus too? |
Hehe ;) ... no.. I meant the Micro35... I don't have (yet ;o) a Letus35. But after this ehm experience I think I'm going to try every one of the "cheap" ones out :-D
|
Damn...tooo early here. It's 7 am. Just finished with the work out.
"Cheap" ones...I don't think Quyen will like that. But I think he is cool enough...and realize the existent of his adapter is cheaper...but from what I seen...some really cool shots and from what I hear Customer service is cool too.... Except not including a battery can deter me from buying one :) |
Cheap? you meant to say "ecomonically balanced price/preformance positive value optimal workflow solution"
:) (I'm just kidding) Anhar |
I have done some testing with the LETUS 35. The results were as good as anything I have seen with the other more expensive ones. I am waiting for a step down ring to put the adaptor on my FX1. I will do a film transfer as soon as I get the step down ring and report the results.
|
*sigh* Of course I didn't really mean "cheap".. I meant erm well balanced pricing or whatever. ;-)
And I'm not totally happy with the one I currently own. It's not really plug'n'play... |
Hello.
What lense did you use in the replicant video? Btw, anything with sigur ros looks great. Specially with this song which it is their best. |
He has used a Canon FD 50mm 1.8
|
Impressive!
Really impressive footage, simple; one girl and some wind with short dof; beautiful; less is more.
After I saw this footage I decided to test this adapter...looking forward to get it...soon by the delivery dudes. Usually I´m working as a director and DOP with s16mm, Digibeta and IMX. But on my free time as a challenge I have always tried to get DV look as good as it gets as a challenge, especially with as "small" gear as possible; to slam the fingers on some of the "only pro equipment"/ regular film guys. ;)) I love the challenge to get people turn their heads around and ask; is this 16mm or even 35mm. Sometimes they do sometimes not... This footage is the one of the better I have seen from video...especially DV! And it´s also a challenge to nail the mini/ pro 35 with simplier camcorders and adapters. Keep up the good work QL and the guy who filmed the girl. Beautiful girl btw. All the best Carl |
