Ben can probably answer about his own times, since this varies with system and effect.

But to give you an idea, on a 2.6 Mhz Pentium4, a Bleach bypass effect + Black diffusion lens + White diffusion lens, it renders at about 5 fps. So a 10 minute movie like Ben's would render in approx. 1 hr.

That's about right. Normal rendering time for that entire video with one setting was about an hour, but when I started to use the individual scene selection tool it increased to a bit over that--about an hour and 20 minutes or so. Really not that bad, compared to previous look suites that took multiple hours.

lens change?

Hey, Nice piece.

Some newbie mistakes and some challenging shots attempted and succeeded. An interesting mix. The steadicam spin as guy gets out of the car worked pretty darn well, even with the bobble... the "crane" at the end worked great. What was that? gl2 on a rope?

So some of this is color correct, but i found the back porch shots just looked much different/better than the rest of the piece. Was this just good natural lighting? Did you change to a different (better?) lens?

Great stuff. some real nuggets of brilliance there.

Actually I built a crane for that shot--cost about $60. I used to have pictures of it online but I took down my site for reconstruction. It's a nifty little design.

Basically, yes :) I was really impressed with it as well. It was one of those times during a storm where the overcast clouds cast a really weird glow on everything.

Thanks for your comments. I think if we had more time the mistakes could've been ironed out a little more. There are definately some things I'm still not happy with.

And I can't exactly remember what lenses I was using when, but I'm fairly certain I was using a 55mm 1.2f on the porch. It's an almost $300 lens, so that may be why that looked good :)
