M2 how to flip screen
 

Hi, I have seen many threads and info where everybody says that to flip the screen on Panasonic camera with M2 adapter I need a magnet but what do I do with magnet? So I have a magnet but how to I flip?

From what I know about this you need a rareearth magnet (Whatever that is, use google), its a small round button magnet, like a small coin cell battery, then you position it on the actual camera near the hinge recess of the viewfinder. With the 100B version I think you have to do something to the viewfinder before it will work. I did actually see a photographic guide on how to do this, I'll see if I can find the link for you.

I believe its not recommended to use magnets against the LCD plus it will only flip the image vertically, the left and rights will still be the wrong way.

There is a sweet spot on the flip out lcd along the side that you need to place the magnet against. It is closest to the camera where it flips out usually.

There is a mechanical solution when using the HVX200. Search dvxuser... there's a thread with pics.

You don't need to flip the image left and right too.

I have used the magnet trick on the z1e. It works very well and very easily. It flips the image 180 degrees making it perfect.

I havent found the sweet spot for the magnet trick on the HVX, maybe there isn't one? But there is a mechanical hack which is fine, although you have to take the LCD hinge plastic off and insert a little something in the right place and you get perfect flip, as long as you take off the mirror option in the LCD options.

Ive never tried the magnet trick, Ive always just flipped in post but now I use the prism setup.

Not sure yet, Im still waiting on the prism casing to hold it in place. The prism is soooooo delicate on its own I dont want to chance it, they chip very easily if not fixed down. I was meant to get it yesterday via Parcelforce but I tracked it and its still in a london depot. My partners family also sent my kids presents via Parcelforce cos they live far away. They were sent Monday for either 24 or 48hr delivery, cant remember but we only got them today. If anyone in the UK needs to sent a parcel DO NOT use Parcelforce, they are slower than a dead tortoise, christmas maybe near but nearly a week is a p**s take. After all they are a Royal Mail company............ah that explains it!

Anyway, as soon as I get it I shall let you know.

Chips in prisms I know so well. I have two of them, one got busted up when the device's glue melted in the hot heat at an airshow and dropped off the camera and got hit by the flying fragments of glass disk.

I managed to keep on using it as the damage was outside of the usable area so I black inked the chips to stop any hazing or flare. The other was damaged in transit despite having been packed extremely carefully.

When you mount your prism be careful not to put any excessive point loads on corners.

Are you using a monitor to flip the image or are you shooting standing on your head? You need to flip that lcd unless your brain can be wired the other way around!! So if you use a prism setup now, is it actually working, that is do you have an adpator that works?

BTW what is the redrock M2 box made of? Plastic, metal?

Most likely die cast aluminium.

Cheers Wayne. The SG Pro is aluminium as well isnt it? Did you use the plastic project boxes at first? They are quite strong.

Also whilst on the flip subject what was the G35 situation, did that flip?

The M2 is made of some unearthly heavy bulletproof stuff... I think it's aluminum.

Yes the SGpro uses a die cast enclosure. Plastic boxes flex, causing the lens to move relative to the image plane. not good.

The G35 did not flip
