Cinefuse 1, 2 and 3
As I understand it you have to buy the cinefuse 1 with the brevis when you first buy it. What are the main advantages of the cinefuse 2 and 3 over each other and the first one?
Is the only difference is the depth of field difference and light loss difference? |
And the change of byproducts that come with more or less diffusion, i.e. vignetting and grain. Each diffusor is suited to a different lighting situation.

my cinefuse 1 came with the brevis. I think thats how it works.

To be clear, there are 5 CF choices.
CF1, CF2, CF3, CF1L, and CF3L CF1/L loses the least light (0.5-1 stop) CF3/L loses the most light (2 stops?), has better bokeh and highlights, but suffers from the Grainy Screen Effect. CF2 is a compromise between CF1 and CF3 - no GSE, but there's no L version The "L" series are the latest development. They are meant for Larger cameras (>58mm filter size)... they completely eliminate vignetting and soft edges with MOST 35mm lenses. I just got a CF1L today, so I'll be posting charts and whatnot next week-ish. -------------------- What should YOU get? If your camera has a filter size greater than 58mm, get the CF1L and that's it. The bokeh isn't perfect yet... but IMHO this is the best adapter on the market right now. No other adapter will let you shoot at dusk w/o lights. No other adapter can be used without rails. No other adapter will let you swap imaging elements. I swear that I don't work for Cinevate. ;) |
I agree with Jon. Currently there is no other adaptor as flexible as the Brevis

CF1L is exellent! I have comparsion pictures against ee-s screens and CF1L is great. I have made pictures with Digital still camera Canon G7. CF1L is at G7 F7.1 (slr wide open) and ee-s screen is on G7 at F3.5. ( I have made my own 35 adapter) CF1L when vibrating shows very good sharpness. When not vibrating ee-s has much finer grain against CF1L.

but how cf1L compare with the beatie? does beattie loss more light?

I just got my brevis today, I haven't had a chance to mess with it as much as I like but Every thing is great so far. Does any one know where some comparison screen grabs between the CF1L and the CF3L? I am interested in getting one, but not yet.

Nils, you have the distinction of being the first customer to ever get their Brevis in hand within 48 hours of ordering it :-) We're attempting to average 72 hours now that we're all caught up.
Richard Darge posted a quick clip of CF1 vs CF3 (not the L versions) which you can find here. |
Yes thank you very much. I was very happy about how quickly I got it, and wasn't expecting it to happen that fast. Thanks for the link it was helpful, and I will probably buy one. Having a clip which matches the lighting in post or some thing so you can just see the effect it has on the bokeh would be a nice thing to see as well.
