Choosing components? Aargh!
Personally I've spent hours and hours and found only fragmented information and good advice is spotty at best. I'm looking to filter through all the motherboard, processor, memory and video card options that are available and believe me, it's a daunting task to say the least (as I'm sure a lot of you know).
So I'm requesting that everyone post a hardware listing of their HD/HDV-capable editing stations... and let us know if you're happy with your gear or if there's a bug or two. This would be EXTREMELY helpful for folks like myself who are looking to upgrade or build their systems. Somewhere to begin... a reference point.
Anyone?

Extremely helpful indeed! I'm in the same boat you are, however I did get some good advice here and there. I found the easiest way to get comments is to list some components to see what people think of them. It will help to list the nle and if possible camera you plan on using most.
Processor-wise a lot of people recommended the E6600, and for a video card I got recommendations for Nvidia Quadro 1500 and Quadro FX-560, plus the Matrox Parhelia, plus the Nvidia 8800. No help with the motherboard. The site seems to be down right now but I found it helpful for reviews:

I keep an eye on these guys since they thoroughly wring out a new hardware platform before recommending it to their clients.
