First time trying to capture.

Vegas doesn't detect camera.

In playback SIGNAL setup, need to select PLAYBACK STD to change setting to DV.

But, PLAYBACK STD is grayed out.

How to fix?

I don't know anything about Vegas, but with FCP it wants you to have the camera plugged in and turned on before activating the capture mode; and you have to change the settings to the proper ones before activating capture also.

Switch the camera off and disconnect from the computer.

Then switch back on in playback mode.

You should now be able to set playback standard.

I had to turn the camera off, disconnect Firewire, then change settings, reconnect, and it works fine.
