Ordered a HV-20 yesterday after playing with one for about 30 minutes in the store along with the HC7. I should recieve it today. I ordered the WD-H43 from a different place because it showed in stock but I got an email saying it was not . I called my 2 local camera/video stores and they said it has been sold out for a long time.

Have these been sold out everywhere for a while ? Even ebay only had one in Japan for $250.

I think they just miscalculated the popularity of this thing... they have a tendency to underproduce.

Patience is key, I ordered mine a week before Memorial Day and didn't get it until after 4th of July. That store didn't update their website to reflect backordered but I kept the order open and eventually got it. According to the sales person I talked to, the lenses they had were already spoken for as soon as they arrived. In between I was using a 28mm + DOF adapter ... not the same as using a native lens but its a wide field of view.

Is the Raynox HD-6600 comparable to the WD-H43?

There's a seperate thread on the Raynox with some sample pictures. I'm fairly sure the WD-H43 is a bit better (and expensive).

I ordered it last week from Amazon and received it yesterday. The weight does tip the HV20 forward even with the larger battery. However I got used to it and holding it most of the time differently (put hand under the camcorder). It's also more steady this way. I also think a wide-angle lens helps to get a slightly more steady picture (since it's more zoomed out).

Amazon has some in stock for 138. I just bought one. They say there's only three left (i guess that would make two left now)

Abhay, for $138 you get the WD-43, not the WD-H43 which is specifically designed for the HV20...

I was thinking for a moment Amazon really dropped the price almost $100 but it's indeed the cheaper non-HD lens.

Would be interesting to know though how it compares. I would think you might get some resolution loss.

Has anyone tried the WD-H46 with a stepdown ring?

I'm also curious about this.
Otherwise it will be sold along with my Xi when I decide to purchase the HV20.

I had my HV20 and WD - 43 on order for two months before even the camera turned up. The WD - 43 took another two months! So I guess I got one of yours (eventually).

It's absolutely georgeous BTW (the WD - 43). But what a lump of glass!

Magic.

Ha! Thanks for the heads up, I didn't know the H46 existed.

I would think that despite the size and weight difference[if there is any] using the larger lens would be an advantage as one is using the more of the sweet spot of the larger lens?

Good stuff.

Thanks for the heads up Ray. I'm not waiting for the price to go up any longer. I bought one last night.

I never take my H43 off the camera. You will be surprised at its weight, but I love the benefits of a full zoom-through wide-angle with no resolution loss.

Hello Wolfgang,

Great web site! I have a question. The 'ohrwurm' microphone sounds really good in your SR7 clip. Is it possible to use that on a HV20 and specifically what do I need to buy?

Vielen Dank,
Luc

>Is it possible to use that on a HV20 and specifically what do I need to buy?>

see www.ohrwurmaudio.de

Excuse me, my english is very bad....
the ohrwurm (earworm) on the HV20 is only ready with the "Expanderbox", this box have the 9V power for the ohrwurm.
The ohrwurm record binaural stereo, that is a very "high-def" sound for live sounds. The price for the ohrwurm is 19% Tax to high on my homepage... is the price for europe (EG).....

In the next time, i create a new micro (XY Stereo) for the HV20 + XH A1, see here with a first videosample:

I speak fluent German but don't want to bypass other people in this forum:-).
I have family from Europe coming over in a few weeks so this might be great option for me.

I have a few questions:
1. I understand I need both the ohrwurm and expanderbox for the HV20, is this something you have in stock and how long would it take to deliver within Europe (either Niederlande or Deutschland/Bonn)?

2. Also what if someone has longer hair:-). Would that block the sound?
3. How big is the expanderbox (in cm is fine)? I assume you tested this on a HV20 with similar results to SR7.

Thanks,
Luc
