Anyone know of a place where I can download the QT component? I goto the site in the manual, and it sends you here:

but from what i can tell it doesn't actually link to the component, just tells you about it.

any help would be greatly appreciated, trying to get the FCP workflow figured out before some shooting with a client tomorrow.

upon further research the beta (1.9) of mpegstreamclip can handle the .tod files and convert them to whatever. the QT component would still be nice to have though...

I am considering this camera, but I need it to be compatible for FCP...I know that you can output the HDV compliant mode and capture, but I really want to stay away from capturing and stick to simple imports.

The JVC site says this quicktime component makes the camera work with Final Cut Pro and iMovie...is this just for viewing the footage though, or does it add the necessary codec to decode the 30MPS MPEG-2 stream and edit on the fly?

from what i've read it should be editable, or at least transcodable. i could find out if i could get ahold of the qt component...

No. As posted before you need to use MPEGstreamclip to convert to AIC.

The far better choice is Premiere Pro CS3 since the TOD is simply remuxed to MPEG. VERY fast!

staying with final cut. What about using the new "log and transfer" option...i understand it will still transcode the footage, but it would be easier than doing it outside of the program (Avchd works this way and i was hoping the jvc would as well)

i didn't have a chance to try it with the log and transfer window. i'm guessing it isn't as easy as the AVCHD stuff because it's mpeg2
