Was just wondering if anyone has had experience with helmet cams, and what they thought of the quality.

After looking at this cam, and its 1/3"CCD I'm thinking of getting one.

Although the first specs you see, states a 380 lines of res, there's a second option towards the bottom of another cam supporting 480 lines.

I did a little search and saw you already posted a similar question
a while back. Also I found these two threads:

I can't imagine that such things will have a very good image
quality unless they are very expensive. But I might be wrong
here. Never used one myself....

One of my friends purchased a helmet camera from Helmet Camera (http://www.helmetcamera.com) and mounted it on his motorcycle. It was adequate for his purposes and did provide a suitable picture considering it was on a race track. I was impressed considering how small the cameras are.

However, I saw the footage on the LCD of his Sony camcorder. Overall it compares with similar helmet camera footage you see now on reality TV shows. If you're aiming for the web they're more than adequate I think (check out Helmet Camera's video gallery (http://www.helmetcamera.com/gallery.htm)). If you have the money it should be a fun purchase, I'm tempted to get one myself.

I use the 380 line cam from Helmet Camera and am generally happy with it. If I color correct and boost the chroma a bit I can usually intercut between the helmet cam and my PD150.

Here are some vacation clips that I shot with the helmet cam.
