Has anyone tried, or know if it's possible to create a file in After Effects on a PC and transfer it to FCP on the mac, or would it have to be compressed?

Also, what about creating a cut in FCP and then saving it with the original codec (from capture, no recompression) and using that in AE on the PC?

If no positives, I will have to buy AE again i guess (part of studio on my pc, don't have a mac version).

There are a number of ways to get from After Effects to FCP. Depending on what you are doing, you may find the rather large but reliable Quicktime Animation codec the right tool for the job. I used that between After Effects and Premiere Pro before Dynamic Link came available.

You can also export as a numbered series of lossless stills and use those in FCP.
