A make up person let me borrow a small thing of it and its awesome for making cuts and such without wasting hours of time like liquid latex. Anyone know where I could get a big jar of it?

Google is your friend:

Also open the phone book and look for costume or magic shops...

In preparation for the Portland 48 hour film project, I bought nose putty and spirit gum. I got them at Hollywood Lights in Portland, OR.

We drew musical, so I haven't yet put these to the test. I hear that by soaking multiple layers of paper towels with spirit gum, you can get an good ripped skin effect.

Oh, and don't forget to buy spirit gum remover, unless you want the ripped skin to be 100% real. ;)

One of the coolest things I ever got for scar effects was called 'collodion'.

From Wikipedia...

Collodion is also used in theatrical makeup for various effects, such as simulating old-age wrinkles or scars.

Was at the local costume rental place and the guy behind the counter was wearing pirate garb with this huge scar across the face that looked like he got the worst end of a knife fight. Very realistic looking to me. I bought some and it's not hard to use, but you have to build up a few applications on the same area to get a good scar effect.
