Like you have to name names :)

Jeezzz, and I thought no one would notice. I'd re-render the whole thing, but how about I pay for the dvchallenge.com domain name, and then you can redirect it to thedvchallenge.com?

Oh please Dick. I missed Dylan's whole point of advertising the website at all and completely left off the .com part. Good thing he promised to be gentle with us while we adjust to the new rules.

Smile,
Kris

Okay, so I pay the guy $4,000 for the domain name.
It's all for a good cause. :)

I've enquired into purchasing dvchallenge.com but the price tag is well into the four figure range. Simply not worth it even if I had the cash to blow on it. :)

It will still be tied to the owner for another 30 - 60 days after expiration date before finally being released to public again if not renewed. I've see this 1000s of times. After it expires it will more than likely go up for auction or be renewed by whoever backordered it first and the system that grabs it first.

Then it will be again redirected to a commercial hosting or domain page of some sort with google ads all over it (as it is currently) -domain squatter!!! In the future, the price may drop dramatically if interest in it dies. If you actually own trademarks, copyrights, etc. to dvchallenge, you may be able to contest that this site should belong to you. That isn't usually successful for small fish, but if say Pepsi came along and you owned "Pepsico.org, they'd take it from you in a heartbeat. Never hurts to call Godaddy and wait on hold 43 minutes to ask.

I know one way to bring that site down to the point where the owner would not want it anymore, but it's illegal, and I'm not going to mention/do it. Right now they are only using it to make pennies on google ads...

Dylan,

If someone did the "thedvchallenge.com" incorrectly, should the person rerender and send you a new link ? every upload to youtube creates a new path, as far as I know.

Emailed him again. Who knows, maybe he's tired of it. :)

(note: pulling the owners info out of public view)

Sorry, Dylan, that info is 100% public record -but I understand, it's your show not mine.

Dylan,

Remind me again. What's the logic of waiting a week before beginning a review of the films?

Dylan,

Remind me again. What's the logic of waiting a week before beginning a review of the films?

Dick

Usually, it takes me about 4 days to straighten out problems with people's films. Either ones that won't play or download properly, or have other technical issues. It seems lame to announce films on a Wednesday or Thursday, so I just wait until the Monday, which gives people a fun thing every day during their work week.

Youtube seems to have changed this... With all the films ready to go perfectly by Monday night. So the only reason I waited was habit.
Yes, I figured it out Tuesday night that there was no point in waiting, but who starts a festival on a Wednesday?

That will be changed for next time, fear not. :)
