Would you all recommend me getting a UV filter for the FX7? And if so, what brand would you get?

I'm using the Hoya Super HMC Pro1 62mm UV filter; very nicely coated and fits under the lens hood. Not very expensive, highly recommened.

And I use Hoya, HMC, 62 mm, UV (0), on a V1E.
Fits as well under the lens hood, so it stays on all the time

I don’t know if there is a difference to the model above

Max, the difference between our models is in the number of coating layers, I believe

I used a similar Hoya on my VX2100E. Now on the V1E I use a B+W filter:

"B+W 010 UV MRC SL 62mm Ultra Violet Filter (Multi-Resistant Coating - Slim Mount)" is the exact part description I have in the order. Like the Hoya mentioned above, it fits perfectly under the Sony lens hood.

It's more expensive than the Hoya equivalent, so I presume it must be better. Not comparing them side by side, I can't say whether or not I would notice the difference, but I figured that with my new HDV cam I'd get the best I could afford.

Yep - generally speaking, it can protect your much more expensive camera lens both optically (UV) and mechanically, while improving the PQ marginally.
