I would prefer using my old Canon ZR-10 to playback GL2 footage to my computer. I would rather the ZR-10 take the stop and go wear and tear of video capturing and save the GL2 for recording only.

Assuming the heads are clean on the ZR-10, will there be any loss of picture quality on my final production? In other words, are the heads on the GL2 any different than the heads on a ZR-10?

Thanks,
Alex

If you will be catpuring via Firewire, there will be no Loss of Quality, It is a digital signal, from the most expensive cam, to the cheapest miniDV cam... a digital signal, is a digital signal. No change.

I use a Sony TRV-17 for my playback deck. No problems

I agree. This is one of the most useful sites I have found. I had the same question as the previous posting, and the answer was exactly what I needed.
