Here is what I have read from the manual:

F5 is 24P
F6 is 24P Adv (30fps for use on computer media)

This is my question: Under the Menu/Scene File/Progressive menu, you have the option of selecting different modes (Off, 30p, 24p, and 24p: ADV). If you select Off for example, will it override your F5 or F6 setting?

By selecting Off, or any other mode, do you override the dial settings? Say you set the dial to F1 and then the progressive menu to 24p, will you then be shooting F1 in 24p?

Really, I just want to utilize the F5 and F6 modes for the film-like look but am confused by the manual a little. I don't want to think I am shooting in F5 but then come to find out that the progressive menu was set to off. I have also tried finding the answer on the following url but was unable to find an answer.

The F1-F6 settings are just the factory defaults. They are 6 seperate settings - changes to one does not affect the others.

You can set them any way you want - all 24pa if you desire. There is a menu choice to restore the factory default as well.

I thought that changes in the menu affected all F1-6 across the board. So basically, if I am using F5 and set the progressive to "OFF" then I can jump to F6 and it would still be on the factory preset and unaffected by the change made on F5.
