I have another extra question, concerning the same thing:

You have smoothcam on the Mac, a function that will analyze your shot, and makes it less shake WHILE PRESERVING the original camera movement.
Is that possible in After Effects with the Stabilize Motion tracker?
Is there something I have to do or something?
Because I have the feeling After Effects just wants to get every movement out of your footage, even the intentional pan.

I know that you can tell it to only eliminate horizontal or vertical movement, if that helps?

I'm a pretty newbie at After Effects... but I don't really understand what you mean by this.

That's right. Depending on exactly what you're doing (like tracking rotation and/or scale, for example) you might need to parent or nest the layer because the tracker might have already used the properties that you want to keyframe, but that's the gist of it.

I know this is also an option in Boris FX with tracking. I am using Mercalli from ProDad for mountain biking video now. It plugs into Premiere, Liquid, and a few others. Extremely quick too.
