Hi guys.

My understanding of audio is quite lacking and I'm hoping someone can help me get things moving. I'm trying to setup 2 mics on my XL2. The main camera mic and an XLR wireless system. I've read other threads here that seem to suggest the setup is correct.....but no cigar!

This is what I've done so far.

Menu setup to 12bit Ch 1.2 3.4

Audio 1
The onboard mic input select to front.

Audio2
Set to rear / A XLR input Ch2/4 from a wireless system.

If anyone can help that would be great.
Cheers

Mat, hit the audio monitor button, down to the left of the wheel, press that button repeatadly until you read CH1+3/2+4 and you're done!

Many thanks Per, yes it was just a monitoring issue. Right time to give it a test and then capture into PremPro and see how things go! I know your PP user too Per. Any tips on this?

Hi Mat,

You will probably find that PremPro will not capture the audio from channels 3 and 4. You may need another capture software like Scenealizer. That is what I had to use.

Hi Mat,
Mike is right. Most NLE apps will only let you capture 2 channels of audio and are typically pre-set to just capture ch 1 & 2. You can usually go into the settings to change this to ch 3 & 4, or as as 1,2,3,4 mix, but this would literally give you a full mix without the ability to retain channel independence.

Historically, folks have often had to run a 2nd pass of audio-only capture to capture the ch3 & 4 audio tracks. But as Mike suggested, Scenalyzer offers a convenient method for doing this if you have a Windows PC.

Alas, I'm on a pre-Intel Mac, and currently no such options currently exist for me, but thankfully my 4 channel audio capture sessions are few and far-between.

Hey guys. Many thanks for the pointers, I've tried Ppro capture but nothing happening as yet, it does seem strange you cant do this huh. However I have tried Scenalyzer and it does indeed work well capturing that extra channel to a wav.

Then how does that work?
I just installed Scenalyzer, but don't see how to set it to capture all four channels.
