I wonder if users will be able to upload their edited footage back on to the EX from a mac. To my knowledge this would be impossible to do on the HVX (I have an hvx, but I still could be "in the dark" about this workflow).

It's possible on the HVX according to this:

I don't have an HVX, so can't verify, but if something similar works on the EX1 with its HD-SDI out I would think that's pretty huge. Otherwise to go to HDCAM I need a Decklink HD card and then need to rent the deck. If this works, for short projects I should be able to take the EX1 to the deck, right?

Great find Rob. I hope the EX has a similar feature to write back to the SxS cards. Maybe I can take advantage of it this time!

can you not export to xdcam like you can with the full size discs?

Sure, but one would need the $2800 U1 drive unless I'm mistaken. For that matter of course I can export to data DVD for short subjects (thinking of commercials). My concern is getting to high-end tape for broadcast cheaply.

I would be staggered if you can't export back to the camera like you can in FAM mode with the f350. Seems like a very basic function. You can with the hvx, not as a file but by print to video. Its horrible. One of the numerous reasons I am selling my hvx.

That's encouraging--so my workflow makes sense? Edit native EX1, export to sxs in camera, then hd-sdi out to deck?
