View Full Version : Dolly to transport equipment

This isn't really related specifically to weddings, but I figured this forum would be the best place to ask my question.

I have a very heavy rack that I need to carry around, but it's too heavy to carry by myself (unless I want to permanently damage my back). Quite often I need to carry it up and down the stairs, so I am wondering if it's practical to use a dolly or hand truck - maybe something with rather big wheels for the stairs.

Does anyone have a solution/product that you can recommend?

Thanks,
Martin

I also do DJ work, I use a dolly with large tires for moving heavy stuff. This one works very well over dirt, stairs, uneven terrain. its the most economical for going up and down stairs. it works well, but doesnt have asthetics. they go on sale for 35 dollars frequently.

I would recommend the Magliner Gemini Jr. convertible hand truck. Almost (short of getting hit by a train) indestructable and totaly weatherproof. Looks good and changes configuration. Although I rarely use it for video any more, it has found many other uses when heavy transport is needed. Because the tires are pneumatic, it is easy to transport heavy items up and down stairs.

Rock N Roller. I've been using one for a couple of years, and couldn't work without it.

I use a Rock N Roller... pretty handy, a fair price. Not as sturdy as a Magliner for sure, and DON'T overinflate the tires, but not bad. Folds up nice and small.

Thanks a lot, guys. I ordered the Rock N Roller - I think this will be working great for me!
